“ARGUS-2021. Photography among the arts”
Winter International Arts Festival in Sochi, artistic director Yuri Bashmet, together with the International Biennale of Photography PhotoVisa, announces the holding of a photography contest “ARGUS-2021. Photography among the arts”.
The contest aims to show how all types of art are embodied by means of contemporary photography in Russia.
ARGUS-2021 is intended to reveal the creative potential of contemporary photographers of different generations in Russia, to support their creative searches, to create a platform for their communication with viewers.
The contest is held among Russian photographers in 5 nominations:
- 1. Sign. Image. Space.
- 2. Sound. Rhythm. Music. Time.
- 3. The word and its embodiment. Theatre. Literature. Poetry.
- 4. Temple of the Arts. Ministers of the arts. Fans.
- 5. A nomination for photographers under the age of 18 who embody images of theatre, music, literature, fine arts, architecture in their photographs.
The Grand Prix of the contest will be awarded separately. The winners will receive cash prizes.
The works by the winners and prize-winners will be exhibited in Sochi within the Winter International Arts Festival 2022.
The jury of the competition includes the artistic director of the Winter International Arts Festival in Sochi Yuri Bashmet, a member of the Magnum Photos agency Carl De Keyzer, Russian and foreign artists. The full list of jury members is published on the competition website.
Submission of works for the competition starts on September 30, 2021 and ends on December 10, 2021.
