Maestro Yuri Bashmet admitted at the closing ceremony that he is proud of the XII Winter Arts Festival, which ended in Sochi, and will work on the next festival.
The Winter International Arts Festival, whose artistic director is Maestro Bashmet, was held in Sochi for the twelfth time. It started on February 14th and opened the cultural program of the Russian Investment Forum. The first event of the festival was a concert by the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Russia. “Don’t Leave Your Planet” based on “The Little Prince” by Exupery with the participation of Bashmet and actor Konstantin Khabensky was shown the next day. The opening gala of the festival took place on February 16th at the Zimniy Theatre. The festival ended on Sunday with a concert at which Yuri Bashmet performed a piece written by a neural network.
“This year I am especially proud of the festival, because we did such risky things. We tried it for the first time. Both Sochi residents and the guests were very brave … There were a lot of interesting things. The Composers Competition was held in the Organ hall. We had another festival as our guest, “The Territory”. One festival visiting another – I have never seen or heard such a thing. The halls were full at almost all concerts,” Bashmet shared his impression.
The festival included performances by leading Russian and foreign artists and groups and a number of world premieres. There were music, vocal, theatre academies, master classes for young composers, sessions of the Youth Symphony Orchestra, School of Young Journalists.
According to the organizers of the event, the festival was attended by about 18 thousand people.
“We love you, and you love us. The next festival, of course, will be, since we want this,” concluded the maestro.
In his greeting to the participants, organizers and guests of the XII Winter International Arts Festival in Sochi, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the event an adornment of cultural life.
