The program of the XIII Winter International Arts Festival in Sochi

Yuri Bashmet Forum will open on 12th of February.

The Sochi resort is waiting for one of the most significant cultural forums in the country, the permanent leader of which is Yuri Bashmet, the press service of the Krasnodar Region administration reports. The XIII Winter International Arts Festival will open on February 12, 2020.

This year, the forum will traditionally host a number of world premieres, as well as music, vocal, folk and composer academies, sessions of the Youth Symphony Orchestra, and the School of Young Cultural Journalists. Maestro will personally take part in most events.

The festival will open with the performance “Don’t Leave Your Planet” with the participation of Konstantin Khabensky, Yuri Bashmet and the Moscow Soloists chamber ensemble on February 12th at the Zimniy Theater.

On the same stage, on February 13th, a large opening gala will take place, where Yuri Bashmet, the Moscow Soloists chamber ensemble, the Youth Symphony Orchestra, soprano Olga Kulchinskaya, violinist Clara Jumi Kang from Korea, Italian flutist Massimo Mercelli will perform.

Sona Jobartech from Africa will sing at the annual ethnic concert on February 14th and American pianist Christian Sands and his trio will play at the jazz concert on February 20th.

February 16th – The Mother ballet performed by the prima dancers of the Royal Ballet of London Natalia Osipova and Jonathan Goddard.

On February 19th, for the first time in the history of the festival, a gala concert of opera stars within the framework of the international project “Opera for Peace” will take place.

Another novelty is a Baroque music concert on February 21st with the participation of the Italian ensemble La Magnifica Comunità.

A number of performances were created especially for the festival. February 15th at the Zimniy Theater – People’s Artist of Russia Evgeny Mironov in the musical performance “Van Gogh. Letters to Brother”; February 17th – the world premiere of the choral opera “The Tale of Boris and Gleb, their brothers Yaroslav the Wise and Svyatopolk the Accursed, about the dashing robbers and the kind Russian people”.

February, 22 is a children’s day with the performance of the Russian Academic Youth Theater “I want to go to school”, master classes for children and teachers of Sochi schools.
