Gala concert of the Vocal Department

During the Sochi festival, young singers will also have the opportunity to receive lessons of the highest professional skills from the largest representatives of opera art in Europe. The work of the “Vocal Department” of the International Music Academy of the Sochi Festival is traditionally led by Dmitry Vdovin, Director of the Youth Program of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, Professor of the Russian Academy of Choral Art named after V.S. Popov.

But we can say with confidence – for the fifteen years of the existence of the Winter Festival of Arts, such a stellar composition of vocal teachers, coaches and managers is presented for the first time!

One of the greatest singers of our time, People’s Artist of the RSFSR and winner of the USSR State Prize, soloist of the Mariinsky Theater, Covent Garden and Metropolitan Opera Sergei Leiferkus; soloist of the Bolshoi Theater Kristina Mkhitaryan, performing at the most prestigious opera venues in the world; pianist, tutor and concertmaster of the Milan theater La Scala Mzia Bakhtouridze, collaborating with the best representatives of vocal art in Europe and the USA; singer and professional coach on breathing and relaxing practices for singers Elena Ostrovskaya; the head of the opera artistic agency Ariosi Management. Alessandro Ariosi, the casting director of Wiener Staatsoper Robert Kerner, as well as the Spanish conductor César Alvarez, who has been successfully working with the leading orchestras of Russia for many years – these masters will be engaged with the academy participants during the week.

The traditional final concert of the Vocal Department will take place on the penultimate day of the Sochi Festival, 26th of february, with the participation of the All-Russian Youth Symphony Orchestra conducted by César Alvarez.
